Nazeing Glass Works

About Nazeing Glass Works

Glass making started on the site in 1928 when members of the Kempton family relocated their small glass works from Southwark in London to Nazeing on the Herts/Essex border.  The registered company Nazeing Glass Works Limited was formed in 1931.

Although most of the manufacturing today is of industrial glassware, such as light fittings & pavement blocks, it was during the 1970's when the factory was making large numbers of wine glasses, sherry schooners and ashtrays for restaurants and pubs around the country that it opened one of the first factory shops in the UK, selling end of line glassware and factory seconds to the public.

As the mix of products made by the factory changed over the years, so did the glass sold in the shop.  The Nazeing-made glassware was joined by other manufacturers’ ranges and a new gift shop was opened in the 1990’s with room for an even greater selection of glass from home and abroad.

Moving into the 21st century, an online shopping facility was added offering a selection of the products available in the shop.

During 2012 the factory was featured in the first episode of the BBC TV series "Antiques Uncovered" and to see an example of an exclusive product being made at Nazeing, watch the launch video for the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Limited Edition Collection at: .
